Poor Richard’s – Sandwich Shop

Poor Richard’s has a nice atmosphere, right by the water. The clam chowder is delicious, in my opinion, as good as the one from Sunset Grill in Duck.

The sandwich that I got was the ham and cheese on a toasted sub bread with a side of french fries. The sandwich was good, delicious, with a generous portion of meat and the right amount of provolone cheese. If I am being picky, I think that the sandwich itself could’ve been a bit bigger to make it even more compelling, however, the portion size was adequate to the price. The french fries were cooked to perfection, crisp and dry, not too salty and in a nice size portion.

Even on a busy day, the wait wasn’t bad, the service was quick. We waited in line about 3-4 minutes.

You order at the register and you sit until called. Drinks and everything else are self-served.

I would visit them again specially when looking for a nice, delicious lunch followed by a walk around the historic Manteo.

Best part

The best part of Poor Richard’s in my opinion is the location right at the heart of downtown Manteo, by the water. The location makes it perfect to just walk down the marina after a great, convenient and affordable meal.
